Switzerland: Aletsch Glacier

Aletsch Glacier is the largest glacier in Alps, stretching for 23 km (14 mi) and carrying a massive amount of ice of over 15.4 km3 (3.7 cu mi). It is perhaps the most stunningly picturesque glacier as you look at it from high above sitting or standing on one of the mountains along its route – it’s a near perfect river of ice. Like many other glaciers, it is rapidly retreating due to global warming.
