Switzerland: Chateau De Chillon

Chillon Castle stands majestically on the shores of Lake Geneva and is one of the most visited castles in the country. It’s foundation dates back to 1005 as an outpost along the road from France to Italy over the Saint Bernard Pass. For centuries, it was the stronghold of the Dukes of Savoy. Lord Byron, Jean Jacques Rousseau, and Victor Hugo wrote about this castle.
