Tajikistan: Tajik Food Recap

While Tajik food has some similarities with other central Asian countries – plov and manty and chorpa soup, there were some truly unique dishes and kurutob stood out the most (it’s truly Tajik only and not even that easy to find). Kurutob comes from kurt (dry salty cheese) which is dissolved in water and poured over thin fatyr bread and then onions and meat is placed on top. Calories to the moon probably but oh so delicious – we tried two different versions. Kabobs are also Tajik specialty – with so many different varieties – pieces of lamb, lamb ribs, heats and liver, minced, beef wrapped on mutton fat, and so on and so forth. And of course the most delicious bread in the Central Asia!
