Tuamotu/Tikehau: Exploring Reef’s Edge

A classic coral atoll is ring-shaped with a lagoon inside and a coral reef on the outside facing the oceanic waves and surf. Tikehau is almost perfect in this respect, as the outer reef wall is almost uninterrupted all around the oval-shaped island. Exploring the outer edge – there’s tons of cool stuff to see – different species of crabs, sea urchin at water’s edge, and peculiar coral formations everywhere. Just make sure you don’t get swept of the edge by sea waves.
