Turkey: Ankara – Ulus Area aka Old Town

Ulus is the area of central Ankara that has a lot of historic attractions. It’s here where the ancient Roman city of Ankyra was located and some ruins remain, like the Temple of Augustus and Rome or the Roman Baths. Adjacent to the temple ruins is the Haci Bayram Veli Mosque, a 15th-century mosque that is a major pilgrimage center. Around these centerpieces are many restored Ottoman-era mansions, plazas and fountains and stunning hilltop views toward the Ankara Citadel in the distance.
