Uganda: Kibale NP – Great Blue Turaco

Great blue turaco is the most sought after bird (by birders) in Kibale Forest National Park. Bizarre birds with its colorful appearance, they are very large, they are 70-80 cm (over 2 feet) tall. They have largely blue bodies, yellow parrot-like beaks, and large mawhawk on their heads. And they are also loud, with non-stop rolling call (they are related to cuckoos). Apparently, they are hunted in Congo for meat and feathers, but at least well protected in Uganda.
