Ukraine: Kovel

One more city in the Volyn Oblast – Kovel, just 50km south of Belarus border. The town dates to 1310 but some archaeological remains found here (a rune-inscribed spearhead of Kovel) were dated to 3th century AD. Several attractions are awesome in town – the St Anne Catholic Cathedral from 1771 is made entire of wood and has two daring towers and beautiful interior. Another spectacular church is the pink Cathedral of Resurrection with many golden onion domes shining on the sun. Finally, Kovel’s historic railroad station is a must see, with an old train on pedestal.
