Ukraine: Uzhok – Church of Archangel Michael

Literally just 2km from the Polish border, in the tiny village of Uzhok, lies a UNESCO World Heritage-piste wooden church from 1745. Charred wood makes it almost completely black, standing on a hill above the village with views of the mountains in pretty much all directions. It was constructed in the Boyko style. The church originally stood on an even higher mountain slope and was later brought down to the village and reassembled.
