USA/AZ: Horseshoe Bend
Another spectacular sight in northern Arizona one the Horseshoe Bend where the Colorado River does an absolute 360 turn! After a mile-long hike, you get to the rim of the cliff over the river, it’s over a 1000 ft vertical drop. A lot has changed since I first saw it nearly 20 years ago – hordes of selfie stick Chinese tourists are now swarming the cliff edges and parking lot changes $10 (used to be free and no parking lot). But the natural site is still the same – an absolute surreal panorama of a big river doing a total loop.
