USA/ME: Pemaquid Point Lighthouse

The coast of Maine is packed with beautiful lighthouses and Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is most certainly one of them – it was even featured on the Maine’s state quarter coin when it was issued. The lighthouse was built in 1827 in the order of the President John Adams and included the light tower, the keeper’s cottage and the brick sound signal house. The setting is very dramatic – it is located at the end of a promontory Pemaquid Point jutting out into the open sea and surrounded my granite rock formations.
