Uzbekistan: Bukhara – Bolo Haouz Mosque

One of the most famous mosques in Bukhara is Bolo Haouz mosque. It dates to 1712 and stands right opposite the entrance to the Ark Citadel. It’s quite unusual in architecture with a rectangular shape without any minarets but with many beautiful wooden painted columns supporting the overhanging roof of the outside prayer hall. The columns and roof are very beautifully carved and decorated.
