Uzbekistan: Samarkand – Grand Mosque in the Tilya-Kori Madrasah

Of the three madrasahs that form the Samarkand’s Registan, only one – Tilya-Kori Madrasah – has a mosque and a prayer hall inside and it’s absolutely stunning, known as the Grand Mosque! Tilya Kori means “covered with gold” and the entire i tie riot is lavish with gold and blues beyond imagination. The gold was applied to the walls with the special technique known as “kyndal”.
