Zanzibar: Pongwe Coral Stone Beach
Pongwe is in my humble opinion the most incredible beach and the best place to stay on the east coast of Zanzibar (at the Zanzibar Rock Resort). On one hand, it’s a very long crescent of white sand and traditional outrigger fishing canoes in the the azure water. On the other hand, it’s a limestone island jutting out into the Indian Ocean in a spectacular fashion and the entire island is an 8-bungalow resort (completely empty at the time of my visit). The scenery is just surreal and amazingly absolutely desolate.
