Zimbabwe: Lake Kariba from Air

Lake Kariba is the largest man-made lake in the world, created in the 1960s with the damming of the Zambezi River and flooding nearly 6 thousand square kilometers. Large numbers of people had to be forcefully moved from their tribal lands that that had occupied for centuries. Lake Kariba dam is the main source of electricity for both Zimbabwe and Zambia. Flying over it gives one stunning panoramas of the rugged coastline and lush forests covering the shore.
