USA/Alaska: Misty Fjords National Monument
Misty Fjords National Monument is equivalent of Norwegian fjords in America – there are more then a dozen of fjords here and many have walls towering nearly 22,000 to 3000 feet (600 to 900 m) as you cruise into them. The fjords and valleys were sculpted out of granite during the last ice age. The walls are not just stupendously high, but they also drop another 1000 feet (300 m) deep.
