Tanzania: Serengeti NP – Cheetahs
Serengeti is one of the best place to see the elusive cheetah. The beautiful slender-built feline is the fastest mammal on earth running at speeds of up to 112 kmh / 70 mph. In Serengeti, you can spot a cheetah often on top of a grassy mound surveying the surrounding plains in search of prey. Then they launch into the chase at full speed – a spectacle beyond description. There are five cheetah subspecies – South African, Tanzanian, Sudanese, Northafrican and Asiatic (the later three on the edge of extinctions).
