USA/NV: Great Basin NP – Bristlecone and Glacier Trails

Great Basin National Park is a true gem of the American National Park system and too bad that it is so remote and little known. The park’s centerpiece is the 13,063-foot (3,982 m) Wheeler Peak, visible from afar. The two best hiking trails – Great Basin NP – Bristlecone and Glacier Trails – lead from around 10,000 feet up to a grove of ancient bristlecone pines (next post) at the foot of the Wheeler Glacier and meander around two spectacular glacial lakes. Full day of hiking, although the elevation and thin air kind of kicked in in the end, but the landscape and panoramic views were well worth it.
