Cameroon: Mount Cameroon – Savanna
As you climb Mt Cameroon, shortly after hut 1, at about 2000 meter or 6000 feet (so half way up the mountain), the trees end and a grassy savanna begins. It’s mostly dry grass and burnt in many places. I got lucky when the skies opened up a little and the view up the mountain sort of appeared. The savanna landscape continues up for a while before becoming pure scramble rock on the way up to the peak. I didn’t continue further, although with an extra day it would have been peaches. Overall, Mt Cameroon is not as spectacular as otherworldly senecio-tree-covered mountains on the Africa’s easy side, but still a great adventure and climb.
