Equatorial Guinea: Malabo National Park
Malabo National Park lies on the western side of the city of Malabo and is not really a national park protecting anything by any means. It’s a kitschy landscaped Chinese-built manicured park grounds more akin to a Central Park in NYC but without any people. With a territory of over 870 thousand square meters, it showcases nice lawns, entertainment arenas, walking paths, and a giant statue to the President of the Equatorial Guinea. While beautiful and pleasant to walk around, it’s still somewhat surreal and totally empty and resembles the parks in Turkmenistan – except the president’s statue doesn’t rotate after the sun here. At least not yet!
