Syria: Syrian Food Recap
Syrian and Lebanese cuisine are identical (aka Arab cuisine), yet everything seemed more authentic and better in Damascus then it was in Beirut or a Lebanese restaurant some place else. The meal procedure includes meze or appetizers of Syrian salad (super fresh crunchy greens and onion), pickled vegetables, and hummus (either Lebanese or Syrian or with additions of grilled lamb). Then comes the main course of either minced lamb or chicken kebabs grilled on open fire together with chargrilled onion and tomatoes, with pita bread. Super sweet deserts come last with super sweet tea or cardamom-flavored coffee.
