Canada/Nova Scotia: Cape Breton NP – Bog Trail
One of the most interesting trails on Cape Bretton is the Bog Trail. Here, it’s not about the panoramic views but rather what’s at your feet – a sphagnum peat bog with unique esoteric flora. Pitcher plants, sundews, bladderworts – all carnivorous species supplement the poor nutrients of the bog soil wit freshly caught bugs and mosquitos. Add on top several species of orchids and waterlillies, all jammed onto a short boardwalk trail.
