Greece: Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece, located in in Macedonia (the Greek Macedonia that is). It is a large city with a lot of traffic, a busy port, and heat and humidity, and is not particularly enjoyable to explore. The sites are all spread out and not easily walkable from one to another. But it has several superb historical attractions like the 16th century White Tower on the waterfront, Rotunda, Roman Forum, Arch of Galerius, and ancient city walls and defensive towers.
