Kurils/Iturup: Prismatic Springs on Baranskiy
Further up the slope on Baranskiy Volcano is a series of beautiful geysers and prismatic hot springs that shine with the most amazing blues and greens imaginable (it’s actually just the water clarity and the depth). The geyser is non periodic and rarely erupts, the waters bubbling from the ground and scolding hot right at the boiling point. The ground is hot as well and probably not particularly safe to walk around. There is a also a cold black-water geyser nearby. No facilities, no trails, no tourists.
