Nicaragua: Masaya Volcano
Masaya is one o the most active volcanoes in Nicaragua and the entire Central America. In fact, the last several days have been code red and access to most trails is restricted and night tours cancelled. Still, you can get to the very rim and look down into the crater (that contains six vents filled with lava, below the toxic smoke). You have to wear a mask to protect yourself from poisonous vapors.
