Peru: Machu Picchu – Views from Outside
Everybody knows About Machi Pichu and perhaps the vast majority of people coming to Peru are seeking out this Inca citadel on the clouds of the Andean mountains. Since my first visit back in 2007, the crowds have become enormous and even so the tickets are now selling online well in advance. This time, the weather didn’t cooperate much and it was raining and foggy and cloudy, but mysterious and still awesome nonetheless. The terraces on the southern side of the site are best for panoramic views of the city below. Here, there is also the trail up the Inca Mountain, but it was completely shrouded in clouds so had to turn around despite having the coveted tickets.
