Ukraine: Mukacheve
Mukacheve is a small town within just about 50km to three borders with Slovakia, a Hungary, and Romania. It was always a major trading center and railway terminus with a mishmash of cultures, architecture, cuisines. It used to be quite industrial with beer, wine, tobacco, food, textile, timber, and furniture industries. Until WWII, it was majority Jewish The central town is relatively small and all pedestrian, where you can hit all the attraction in likely half an hour. Townhall tower and many historical centuries-old buildings line up the streets, there are a lot of monuments, large squares, a small palace, Orthodox Church of Pochaiv Icon of Virgin Mary, Catholic St Martin’s Cathedral (with a rooster on the rooftop instead of cross), and several other churches.
