USA/NJ: Cape May Lighthouse
Cape May is probably the most famous lighthouse in New Jersey, built on the promontory of Cape May and facing the Delaware Bay and stunning yellow sand beaches. The lighthouse was built in 1859, and fully automated in 1946 (the light is flashing every 15 second. The tower is 157 feet (48m) tall, from the ground to the tower’s cast iron spiral staircase. Unfortunately, the access to the top platform was closed. Many consider the Cape May Lighthouse to be the symbol of New Jersey.
