USA/NH: Covered Bridges of New Hampshire
New Hampshire is famous for its covered wooded bridges, no other place on earth has so many of these unique river-crossing concoctions. Back is the carriage and horse-and-buggy saysX these bridges were called kissing bridges, and even today covered bridges are a romantic part of New Hampshire’s landscape. Nowhere are there so many so close together as in the vicinity of the town of Swanzey southwest corner of NH. Driving like being lost on small country roads, we managed to do six different bridges: the 1864 Ashuelot Bridge (the largest of the NH bridges), 1837 Coombs Bridge, 1862 Slate Bridge, 1832 Thompson Bridge, 1790 Carleton Bridge, and finally 1771 Cresson Bridge.
