Mexico/Aguascalientes: Aguascalientes
Aguascalientes is one of the smallest states in the country by both population and territory, but one of the highest per capita income and economic development. The capital city is called Aguascalientes as well and the vast majority of population lives here, it is one of the safest and most prosperous cities in the country. We walked all around the historic center well past the sunset and it was absolutely pleasant, enjoyable, super clean and comfortable – and every building is beautifully lit! Everything is central and easy here – the 16th century Cathedral of Aguascalientes is absolute stunning inside and out and is the ornate Palacio de Gobierno. The tall calumn in the heart of the Plaza de Armas used to have a statute of the Viceroy of Spain and now is the monument to Mexican independence. There is also a very beautiful Teateo Morelos with sculptures celebrating Native American heritage. Wonderful city all around!
