Iceland: Stykkisholmur
A beautiful harbor town on the northern part of Snaefellsness peninsula, Stykkisholmur is where the ferry for Westfjords leaves and comes back to. The town was a major trading post from mid-16th century (there are several old wooden merchant houses near the harbor). Come here on a clear sunny day (which are rare in Iceland in general and on Snaefellsness in particular) and the town world shine with colorful buildings, futuristic church, and distant snow-covered mountains.
