Iceland: Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon – Harbor Seals
Jokulsarlon is also one of the best places in Iceland to watch seals. They come into the lagoon to feed on plentiful fish and often haul themselves out on floating icebergs. Harbor seals are true seals (unlike sea lions), and also the only species that lives in Iceland all year round. This is also the most widely distributed seal species in the world, all around the Arctic waters, with the global population of about half a million. In Jokulsarlon, they are safe from any predation and have a total fish buffet, plus floating iceberg beach chairs to relax and sun themselves.
