Bahrain: Oil Pumps & Gas Flare Stacks
The southern part of the island of Bahrain is all about the iconic oil production landscape – oil pumps swinging and pumping the high quality crude and the gas flare stacks burning the excess gas all around – to horizon! Come at sunset, and you can get some awesome pics of oil pumps and gas flares against the massive balls of the setting sun. The oil field is known as the onshore Bahrain field and is one of the two fields in the country. Oil is Bahrain’s main export, accounting for 60% of all export receipts, 70% of government revenues, and 11% of the country’s GDP. Interestingly, Bahrain is not an OPEC member.
