Oman: Khasab
Khasab is the largest city and the capital of the Musandam, yet still a tiny town of about 17,000 people. Khasab was built by the Portuguese in the 17th century, mainly as a port and access to dates and water. One of the main attractions here is then Khasab Fort, built by the Portuguese right on the waterline which has since moved out. The square fort with round towers looks quite imposing and massive. There is also a smaller fort deeper in town, as well as a pretty mosque and a several newer fortress-like buildings.
