Iceland: Landscapes of Southern Iceland
Landscapes of southern Iceland are drastically different from the fjords and mountains of Westfjords and Eastfjords and the barren lands of the north. Here, countless glacier tongues descend from the Vatnajokull glacier fields and then sculpt the black sand floodplain. There are also super green mountains and cliffs with all this moisture, endless lupine, green fields, lonely churches, and massive moss-covered lava fields. It’s the Icelandic nature at its rawest and most beautiful, and the Ring Road drive through it is breathtaking!
