Brazil: Petropolis – Palacio Quitandinha
Palacio Quitandinha was built between 1941-45 as a luxury resort hotel and casino. Famous celebrities stayed here like Walt Disney and Carmen Miranda. Today it’s a cultural exhibition center and a museum open for public wanting to gaze and lux life of rich and famous. There is an artificial lake with a fake lighthouse in front of the building, manicured lawns, various art exhibits onsite and plenty of other photogenic junk. Interestingly, this is the location when in 1947 the Rio Treaty was signed here – the pan-American version of NATO – “attack on one is attack on all”
