South Georgia: South Georgia Pipit
Speaking of endemic birds on South Georgia, the holy grail of birdwatchers is the South Georgia pipit (Anthus antarcticus). Looking not much different in size and attractiveness from a common house sparrow (exaggeration!), this small bird is actually the only songbird in Antarctica and was nearly extinct. But with rat eradicated from the island, the bird recovered quite remarkably and we got lucky to see nearly half a dozen of them.
