Armenia: Armenian Grape Hyacinth

Armenian Grape Hyacinth is a bright and unique-looking deep blue spring flower that is commonly cultivated in Europe and America for its showiness, but turns out its birthplace is here in the mountains of Armenia. The Latin name is Muscari armeniacum. There are were vast and dense meadows of these flowers at mid-lower elevations on Mouth Aragats. The flower is from the Asparagaceae family and has bulb similar to hyacinth or lilies. The flowers are quite fragrant, ultra bright dark blue, and form colorful meadows along the mountain slopes, especially where there is running water.
