Germany: Eisenach

Eisenach, is another town situated in the Thuringian Forest of central Germany, steeped in history and cultural significance. Its was a prominent trading center the medieval times. Today, it still has a well-preserved old town with narrow cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses. Eisenach is also the birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach, one of the most celebrated composers of the Baroque period. Eisenach was the capital of Thuringia in the 12-13th century and it was in Eisenach when Martin Luther translated the Bible into German in 1228. Eisenach is famous for many museums it has, like the Bachhous dedicated to the composer, the Lutherhaus, dedicated to Martin Luther, and the automotive museum, depicting the rich automotive history of the city.
