Solomon Islands: Leili Island
Next island to explore was Malaita and small island and islets surrounding it. While Malaita is the most populated island in the Solomons and the second largest, it’s largely off the exploratory path due to difficult terrain and tribal disputes between the highland people and the coastal “shore” tribes. Leili islet doesn’t have this problem as it is uninhabited and is just a sand bank with a bit of tidal flood forest and a surrounding reef – quite spectacular from a bird’s eye point of view!
