Solomon Islands: Ngongosila – Bridal Ceremony
We even got lucky to witness a bridal ceremony on the Ngongosila Island. The bride was all dressed up and then the future husband’s people brought and laid strings upon string of traditional shell money for the bride and her parents. The shell money is, interestingly enough, not a thing of the past in the Solomons and PNG – it is still used as money and store of value for more traditional ceremonies, like bridal, wedding, funerals, etc.
