Papua New Guinea: Manus Island – Derimbat Village
Manus Island is the largest island in the Admiralty Islands archipelago in the northern Papua New Guinea. Here, we came ashore at the remote Derimbat village on the northern coast of Manus. Traditional houses made from sago palms dot the shore, while dense tropical rainforest surrounds the village. Local women and kids, dressed in colorful dresses welcomed as as we walked and explored the settlement. Tall coconut palms swayed along the beach and pig pens housed the animals just near the water line underneath.
