Papua New Guinea: Tsolik Island – Snorkeling

The magical Tsoilik Island offered stunning snorkeling in its underwater paradise – lots of healthy coral boomers, fresh currents, plenty of fish, and especially a large variety and quantity of tropical sea stars. Spectacular healthy reef with giant coral beds. An interesting observation were the many Christmas tree coral worms, a species of worms living usually in large brain coral beds and borrowing deep inside with only the mouth parts popping out. The hide when touched. The coral worms are omnivores and can behave equally efficiently as carnivores and filter-feeders.
