Japan/Kyushu: Fukuoka – Fukuoka Castle Ruins
Fukuoka Castle was one the largest castle in Kyushu, but nowadays just some gates and ruins remain of the pat magnificence. The castle sits in a large park on the heat of Fukuoka and on top of the hill. Climbing to the top of the hill where once the castle’s central keep was offers panoramic views of the city in 360. The castle was built in the 17th century but later torn town when the feudal system was abolished in the 19th century. The castle grounds are now an extensive and beautiful green park and several old castle elements that have been restored.
