France: Villandry Chateau
Villandry Chateau is famous for its amazing Renaissance gardens, often considered to be the most beautiful gardens in the world – laid out in patterns and boxes in bush hedges. There are a total of six gardens to discover – water, ornamental, kitchen, sun, herb, and labyrinth – all connected by walkways, waterways, and terraces. The decorative kitchen garden combines flowers and vegetables in a checker-board design. The water garden has fountains and waterfalls and swans. In the ornamental garden, boxwood forms patterns that are meant to describe types of love – tender, passionate, fleeting, and tragic.
