Germany: Volklingen Ironworks
Another industrial site on the UNESCO World Heritage list – an integrated ironworks plant built on the 19th century. It is the only iron plant left intact in Western Europe and North America (although I am sure the developing world has plenty like this). It’s a massive sprawling site of pipes, massive machinery, rail tracks, and some more rusting iron everywhere. It’s literally a virtual maze of iron.
