Uganda: Rwenzori NP – High Peaks

Rwenzori Mountains have many high peaks, the highest being Mt Stanley at 5109 meters, making Rwenzori third highest after Kilimanjaro and Mt Kenya (which I have done both before). The highest non-technical peaks in Rwenzori are Weismann Peak at 4520 m (14620 ft) and Stella Peak 4526 m (14640 ft). From these two peaks you can look across the deep glacial valley and see pretty much all the other peaks – 4 clustered around Mt Stanley, 2 around Mt Baker, and several other to the north. Snow and glaciers come down the peaks, and on a clear day you can see further into Congo. It’s very rare to have clear days, usually you stand on top of Stella in clouds, but I got lucky (as always) to see a dizzying snowcapped peaks panorama in 360. Or was I dizzy because of cold and thin air?
