Country Page: British Virgin Islands (BVI)
In British Virgin Islands you drive American cars (left-side wheels) on the British-system roads (driving on the left side) – so this is quite insane to begin with. Add the fact that roads are in bad condition and extremely steep given that the islands are volcanic and mountains rise steeply from the shores – you basically drive in second gear and you can see whats going on on the roads. Driving aside, the islands are beautiful – Tortala is the main island with most population and great beaches on the north coast, Virgin Gorda has the UNESCO-listed bounder beach at the Baths, Jost Van Dyke has picture perfect White Bay, and finally the far-outlying Anegada is an absolute jewel with the Caribbean second largest coral reef, desolate miles of white beaches, and beach bar serving delicious Caribbean lobster.
