Kiribati: Exploring North Tarawa on foot
Tabuki island is at the very end of walkable road on North Tarawa – beyond it lies the broken bridge and deep water channel separating the remaining Tarawa atoll northern islands that are mostly uninhabited. There are several traditional over water huts here that stand on stilts deep out into the blue lagoon. You can stay in one of them overnight for a $10-20. There are no amenities of any kind but you are in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, miles away from any other country.
