Mongolia: Ulaanbaatar – Zaisan Memorial
Zaisan Memorial is a grandeuse Soviet-style monument erected in the tallest hill in Ulaanbaatar to celebrate the Mongolian-Soviet friendship. There is a WW2 tank at the bottom and then you need to climb 300+ stairs to the top for the main structure – a spire with a circle around it adorned with murals in the classic “communist propaganda” style. Soviet themes aside, this is the best place to get a panorama of the we tore city below you!
