Myanmar: Kyaiktiyo Pagoda aka Golden Rock
This balancing rock with a mini pagoda in top perched on a cliff on a 5,000 foot high mountain is one of the most photographed site in Myanmar and one of the biggest pilgrimage sites in the country. People come in thousands to witness it, supposedly the Golden Rock is held by Buddha’s hair. That ridiculousness aside, the setting and panoramic views are spectacular and the gold shines bright in the midday sun. People buy gold leaf in droves to add more to the rock (only men are allowed to do that). The rock is hardly touching the surface and appears to be easy to drop at any point.
